A restaurant "Made in Lux"

Specializing in grilled meat, this restaurant at Sofitel Luxembourg Europe attaches great importance to its products’ origins.

The De Feierwon restaurant is like a cosy ‘‘brewery’’ inviting you to take time out while dining. The orange velvet bench-seat around the room illuminates dark wood, giving a warm ambiance. This restaurant specializing in grilled meat offers a choice of beef, veal and pork, served with your choice of sauce. Also on the menu, salmon steak and rosemary flashed at the grill or burgers to suit every taste.

Meat, the star on the menu

Specializing in meat was self-evident for De Feierwon, as Luxembourg has many breeders producing meat of rare quality. The Executive Chef’s goal is thus to make meat sublime while altering it as little as possible. You will be amazed by the tenderness of a Chateaubriand Charolais matured for 35 days, the finesse of a veal Tomahawk, the tastiness of a rack of pork. These exceptional cuts are provided by Luxembourg’s finest butchers.

The Chef sources all his raw materials carefully, maintaining close ties with his partners to be sure of presenting the very best at table. ‘‘We are just a few kilometres from the first breeders outside the city ‘‘, says the Chef. ‘‘That’s the special feature of Luxembourg: an international town near meadows and nature. A guarantee that we can offer quality products, sourced under the best conditions.’’

Luxembourg, land of agriculture

Dishes of such high quality and flavour rely on irreproachable ingredients being at arm’s length. The best example is meat from animals that spend their lifetimes in Luxembourg’s countryside. But that’s not all. Goats’ cheese comes from a farm in northern Luxembourg. Vegetables travel less than eight kilometers to reach the restaurant. Their grower, Sandrine, respects the seasons to ensure intense taste.

The wine-list also presents a majority of Luxembourg wines. Whites, of course, but also reds, rosés and sparkling wines. ‘‘In the past few years, we have seen great improvement in our wine production,’’ says the Chef. ‘‘We can thus now propose a wine-list mainly comprised of Luxembourg wines, meeting our clients’ demands. Not the case when I arrived here 21 years ago.’’ De Feierwon is indeed the perfect address for discovering the richness of Luxembourg’s terroir.
